SLED

If you still use the SLED text editor ("Sam's Little Editor"), it hasn't changed since 1987, so no need to update it. But if you want to show it to a friend or reinstall it, you can still download it and it's documentation as a ZIP file.

This what the "README" file says:

SLED is a small, fast text editor for the IBM PC and close compatibles,
designed for program, batch and data file editing, and simple word
processing. Many files can be edited at once, limited only by available
memory (up to 640K). SLED has surprised many people by how much can
be done with it, even though it's only an 17K program -- so don't ignore
it just because it's so small. SLED is "freeware" -- it is copyright,
but anyone can use and distribute it without charge. Use and enjoy!

The needed files are packaged in "sled.zip":

    SLED.DOC the SLED documentation
    SLED.COM the SLED program itself
SLHED.COM a version of SLED for the Hercules Graphics card
